Progressive, strong growth, global organization has an immediate need for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant. This position is responsible for all aspects of the organization's Property Tax matters. You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of US Property Tax Returns (with global operations & subs). You will gather data for the quarterly tax provision, assist in providing tax advice to clients such as senior leadership executives, and operations personnel. You must have experience dealing with a companies -’ assets and the Property Tax issues related to those assets including appraisals, negotiating with local government officials, filing Tax Appeals, etc.
Research US Property Tax laws and regulations as they relate to Property Tax planning strategies. Conduct regular meetings with business unit managers to educate them on any or recent Property Tax laws affecting their business operations. This position is a Strategic Business Partner with the Tax, Accounting, and Finance leadership of the organization.
Critical Responsibilities:
-· Legally minimize long-term property tax expense for the company and subsidiaries located within the United States.
-· Provide the necessary expertise to appraise real and personal property, file accurate property tax returns, negotiate with local government officials, manage property tax audits, and file tax appeals when appropriate. The appraisals and property tax returns directly impact property tax payments.
-· Estimate annual property tax payments for budget and planning purposes, as well as implement long-term strategies that reduce liability through Government Incentives, Tax Abatements, Exemptions, Foreign Trade Zones, and Legislation.
-· Maintain working knowledge of the company business initiatives, state law, and court cases to effectively pursue tax savings opportunities.
-· The Sr. Tax Accountant must have knowledge of local assessment practices and maintain working relationships with local government officials.
Requirements:
BS degree in Accounting, and a Masters in Tax is a plus. A CPA is a plus.
You should have broad knowledge of Property Taxes. The ability to review and analyze current and accumulated taxes in order to maximize US benefits derived from the company -’s tax situation. Strong attention to detail. Strong analytical skills. Must have experience with Property Taxes. Any FAS109 & FIN 48 experiences a plus.
Must be able to deal with multiple levels of people inside and outside the department. Demonstrate an understanding of property tax programs. You should be able to effectively apply property tax laws to business situations among business unit managers and department managers. You should have 4 to 8 years relevant property tax experience. BIG 4, Public Accounting, or company experience will work.
Base salary range of $80-110k + Bonus. Company has a strong Benefit and Retirement package. Relocation assistance is available. This is a very "High Quality-of-Life" culture.
