Dynamic, global, strong-growth company. The Field Engineer performs field related engineering functions in support of large, off-road equipment. Makes technical assessments regarding the repair of products. Investigates equipment and/or component failures. Manages field projects such as prototype installations, product reworks.
Essential Job Duties:
- Analyzes, and specifies tests of welded structural components, steel castings, and processes.
- Confers with Engineers to investigate equipment failures and difficulties to analyze and provide technical recommendations.
- Identifies, analyzes, and recommends improvements to all operational procedures which impact all aspects of product/truck operation at User site. This includes parts supply, logistics, factory response, publications, etc.
- Works with Test Engineers to install, test and analyze products or components..
- Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, project specifications, field reports, test data, and FE analysis.
- Works with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications.
- Works with Design Engineers to provide field and service related feedback to improve design.
- Analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.Works independently and as a Team member.
Requirements:
Bachelor -’s degree (BSME/MET) with 4 years Pro-E / Pro-E Mechanica experience and 4 years structural design experience.
- Job Skills:
- Knowledge of technical fundamentals of structural engineering and FE analysis and material properties. Knowledge of all truck systems and the interaction between systems including drive systems, control systems, hydraulic systems, and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of Pro-E, Pro-E Mechanica, drafting tools, CAD or drafting equipment and Microsoft Office software. Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical circuits.
- Skill in planning, managing, and directing resources and managing projects. Skilled in Project Management including resource management, parts supply chain, logistics, etc.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra, probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
