Summary


The Biomedical Equipment Technician will work as the Laboratory Assistant under the supervision of professional Lab Instructors. Will provide support to instructors and coordinate training in the areas of testing, inspection and repair of biomedical equipment. Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory levels for lab supplies, write lab reports, summaries and protocols. Position reports to the Director of the Global Education Center.


Responsibilities

Perform a variety of safety and security inspections on biomedical equipment to make sure they are functioning properly.
Mentor trainees during the program and assist instructors in developing teaching material.
Repair malfunctioning devices and equipment; refurbish biomedical equipment, and relocate equipment.
Research manufacturers for information on parts, prices, operating, and service manuals.
Keep and update maintenance records for biomedical equipment, parts, supplies and test devices.
Orders parts that are needed to repair malfunctioning equipments, devices, and machines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Associates degree in electronics/computers/biomedical engineering or equivalent one year technical or military training in electronics or biomedical technology is required. Biomedical Equipment Technology degree is preferred. Military training and experience is a plus.
Minimum 2 years hospital and/or industry progressive experience in the troubleshooting and repair of biomedical equipment as a BMET.
Strong technical aptitude and extensive knowledge of a broad range of electronic/biomedical equipment operation and maintenance. Ability to work in advanced technical situations.
Knowledge of electronics, including solid state technology. Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, specifications, and illustrative drawings.
Perform effective repair and/or planned maintenance on basic electronic/biomedical equipment.
Proficiency with electronic test equipment.
Proven ability to tutor trainees in basic electronics, electrical safety and equipment maintenance.
Must be able to regularly lift/move 15 to 30 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50-100 pounds. Continuous standing, lifting, bending, crouching and twisting required.
Excellent proficiency in MS Office and Web-based Applications
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Verifiable professional references.
