Description:

The successful candidate in the Medallion Instrumentation Systems Quality Manager position will be responsible for senior management leadership of all quality related activities. These include: playing a leading role in leading an organizational change effort to heighten the level of focus on developing and delivering high quality products, developing and executing a strategic quality plan to advance existing systems and processes to meet customer requirements, improving the launch quality of products produced at Medallion Instrumentation Systems with a special emphasis on software quality. The position includes oversight and leadership of the quality organization and is responsible for identifying key organizational issues and improvement opportunities, driving action plans to improve the overall quality of processes, products and services and to lead improvement of the Quality Management System. The Quality Manager position is a primary contact when escalation of quality issues is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
Position Description/Responsibilities:
- Partner with other members of the Sr. Management team to lead organizational change efforts to raise the level of quality focus throughout the organization. Influence the leadership team to embrace improvement initiatives and support the changes necessary to significantly improve product quality as experienced by our customers
- Develop and execute a strategic quality plan to both improve product quality and reduce the cost of quality
- Partner with the Director of Engineering to focus the product development team on -“designing in -” quality and improving launch quality. Assist in establishing Software Quality processes and lead company efforts to attain software CMMi certification to levels satisfying customer requirements
- Partner with the Purchasing Manager to define a Supplier Quality program focused on improving both our on-going supplier quality system and to improve new product development through improved supplier readiness and quality initiatives
- Partner with the Operations Director to implement design for manufacturability practices that will improve the quality of our finished products. Support the Operations Director on all continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with the Director of Sales and Marketing to provide our customers with a senior-level contact in the quality organization and to ensure quality-related customer needs, such as product PPAPs, are met. Interact as needed with customers, both proactively and reactively, to demonstrate Quality commitment
- Translate customer quality requirements into executable plans
- Lead organizational response to critical issues
- Maintain current quality certifications such as ISO9001, and lead the organization in additional certification activities such as TS16949
- Monitor and analyze Quality Management System processes through internal audits, performance reviews, and networking to determine Quality Managing System improvements with high customer/business impact. Lead the implementation of the identified improvements
- Review Quality Metrics & programs, and recommend areas for management attention. Ensure the corrective and preventative action systems are used to satisfy the customer and promote improvements
- Provide leadership and supervision to the quality team
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related fields
- A minimum of 10 years experience in the quality function, with at least 3 as a Quality Manager
- Aerospace and/or Automotive OEM Quality Systems management experience required
- Experience and knowledge of ISO9001 and TS16949
- Demonstrated knowledge in statistical process control and various process improvement methodologies
- Demonstrated strong networking and interpersonal skills and professionalism to deal with all levels of management
- Demonstrated ability of developing and using relationships to facilitate accomplishment of goals
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact with a range of personnel from the shop floor to the board of directors
- Effective decision making abilities and planning, organizing and priority setting skills
- Must be able to manage a diverse workload, perceive needs of others, and lead effective decision making processes
- Must have good problem solving skills and be able to quickly identify, define and resolve problems
